Dear Mr. Roherty,
I hope this finds you & your family well.
I'm of the Roherty clan from the province of New Brunswick on Canada's East Coast. Most of the family hail from northern NB; Belledune, Jacquet River, Bathurst, Campbelton, & Dalhousie. Many have moved to other areas of Canada, & I recall that in the late '70s or early 1980s, there were only about 75 families of Rohertys in all of Canada. I imagine there are several more than that by now!
My Great-grandfather was Sanford Roherty (he died in the late '70s at the age of 92 or so), & my grandfather is Charles Alexander Roherty (who will be 90 next month).
I was pleased to read your blog that was forwarded to me from my father (John Nicholas Sanford Roherty) from our cousin James Roherty (titled "Welcome Rohertys/Raffertys From Around The World"). While I've been in the UK numerous times, I've never had the good fortune to visit Ireland (but hope to someday). I've seen the coast from the deck of a ship when starting a trans-Atlantic crossing, but that's as close as I've come.
My wife & I hope to travel to Janesville, WI just to check out the Rohertys there someday & have always been amazed at how many Rohertys can be found when one Googles them!
Anyway, we want to wish you a Happy St. Patrick's Day. Feel free to drop a line back when you get the chance.
All the best,
Shawn (Yulia & Sonja) Roherty

Yes, by all means you can use my note on the blog. No worries. I meant to mention in my initial note that Dad also has one brother (Kevin, who you bear a striking resemblance), & two sisters (Charlene & Marianne). They all live in the Fredericton (capitol city of New Brunswick) area. Our small branch in the family tree all come from Fredericton actually. I was born there (1965) & lived there until 1971-72. Dad was with the Federal government & transferred to Saint John at that time. We later moved from Saint John to Quispamsis (20 minutes east of Saint John) in 1973 to escape the postage-stamp-sized lots of East Saint John & the 3 PM fog that rolled in like clock-work in those days. Saint John is not known for being warm in the summer thanks to the Bay of Fundy, which I refer to as the world's largest air conditioner....
Cheers,
Shawn, Yulia & Sonja
